A footballer, Enoch Anim was on Tuesday handed a three-year sentence by an Accra Circuit Court for possession of firearms and stealing.

Enoch who pleaded not guilty to the charge was, however, found guilty by the court after going through full trial and is to serve three years for possession of firearms and two years for stealing.

The facts of the case as presented by Chief Superintendent of Police Duuti Tuaruka are that, the complainant in the case is a driver’s mate residing at Bubuashie, while the convict resides at Kaneshie.

He said on August 12, 2013, at about 0300 hours, the complainant after the day’s work, opened one of the side glasses of his Hyundai Grace car for ventilation and later slept inside.

He said while sleeping the convict secretly pulled the complainants Samsung cell phone around his neck through the side glass and after picking the phone, turned to face a different direction.

The prosecution told the court that the complainant, who was alone in the car, kept mute and monitored the movement of Enoch. Chief Superintendent of Police Tuaruka said the complainant followed the convict till he got to a ‘wakye’ sellers place at Bubuashie, where he raised the alarm, and he was arrested by people around.

He said a spot search on Enoch revealed a locally manufactured pistol with a ‘410’ bore cartridge from his pocket, together with the complainants missing phone hidden under his private part.

The prosecution said, Enoch was arrested and handed over to the police, for investigation.
