The Kumasi Magistrate Court, presided over by Her Worship Deborah Gyaawa, has reportedly ordered the Electoral Commission (EC) in the Ashanti Region to reverse the transfer of 580 voters to their original constituencies.

This decision comes in response to the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) demand for clarification on violations found in the voter register during the voter registration exercise.

According to a report by citinewsroom.com, the NPP took the matter to court.

Officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) in the Ashanti Region have began the process of reversing the names of around 580 individuals from the Manhyia South voter register, following the court's order.

Alhaji Haruna Alhassan, the NPP Manhyia South Constituency Secretary, stated in an interview with that the party will ensure the completion of the reversal process.

He encouraged NPP stronghold constituencies to review the voter rolls for potential irregularities and take appropriate action.

Haruna Alhassan explained, "It was during the transfer process that we, the NPP in the Manhyia South constituency, noticed certain anomalies in the transfer of votes to the constituency. We realised that the transfers were not in line with the law, but according to the L.I, there was nothing we could do... During the exhibition, we discovered that about five or six polling stations out of the 107 in Manhyia South had experienced abnormal transfers."

He continued, "For instance, we observed around 150 transfers to St. Louis Training College of Education... So we took the matter to court and appeared before the court five times... Finally, yesterday, the court ruled that the 580 people who were transferred to Manhyia South during the registration period should be returned to their original constituencies... We will monitor this closely to ensure the right procedures are followed."
