Court remands barber for indecent assault

The Takoradi Circuit court on Friday remanded a 27-year old barber, Kweku Aduna into custody for indecent assault.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence but the court-adjourned proceedings to June 11, for further hearing.

Prosecuting, Inspector Seth Ahelegbe told the court presided over by Mr. Charles Bamford Nimako that the complainant, John Mensah, is the father of the victims and resided at Effia-kuma Estates, near Takoradi.

He said on May 13, at about 1630 hours the complainant gave his two daughters, six and nine years respectively, money to barber their hair at the accused barbering shop.

The prosecutor said about two hours later, his daughters returned home walking with some difficulties.

He said when the father interrogated them, they said Aduna inserted his fingers into their vagina after barbering them.

The father confronted the accused but he denied the offence and a report was made to the police, where medical forms was issued to them for examination.

Inspector Ahelegbe said the result of the medical examination indicated that, the victims had been penetrated.

The police arrested Aduna and charged him with the offence but he denied the offence in his caution statement.

He was arraigned before the court for prosecution.**
