Court remands driver for narcotics

An Accra Circuit Court has remanded Abdulai Serdic, a driver, into Police custody for possession of substances suspected to be narcotic drug without lawful authority.

He pleaded not guilty and would reappear on November 18.

Detective Chief Inspector Ofori-Amanfo told the court that the complainants in the case were personnel of the Ghana Police Service stationed at Mile ‘7’.

He said on October 6, a tracking device on a robbery victims IPhone, pin-pointed the accused person’s house as where some of the stolen items were kept and informed the police.

He said the complainant led the police to the accused house at John Teye and he was arrested.

The prosecution said during a Police search at the accused person's house, some of the robbed items and a wrapper of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found.

The Detective Chief Inspector said the accused person could not lead the police to the source of the dried leaves.

Meanwhile the substance has been sent to the Police forensic laboratory for examination.
