A man arrested for robbing another person of his mobile phone and cash at gunpoint has been remanded in prison by the KMA Circuit Court.

Mahmoud Malik, alias Abubakar, is facing charges of robbery and possessing firearms and ammunition without authority.

He pleaded not guilty and would make his next appearance on Tuesday, October 10.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Asumadu Okyere-Darko told the court, presided over by Mrs. Mary Nsenkyire, that the incident happened on September 14, at about 2200 hours.

The victim, Ali Sule, was on his way to join a bus to Asante-Mampong when the accused from nowhere attacked him near the Adum Railways Police Station – pulled a gun and ordered him to surrender his mobile phone and cash.

For fear of his life, he did as he was told, only to raise the alarm to attract the attention of some passersby as Malik attempted to escape.

The people, who run to his aid, managed to arrest the accused and handed him over to the police together with the stolen cash of GH?101.00 and phone.

The prosecution added that a search conducted on him uncovered a locally manufactured pistol and a live cartridge.

Malik confessed to the crime in his caution statement.
