A man who allegedly attacked a 13-year old girl and robbed her of a handbag containing Samsung mobile phone, credit cards and cash has been remanded into prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court.
James Amoah reportedly committed the crime together with one other person on the run, named only as “Sadi One” on July 27.
He pleaded not guilty and would make his next appearance on Wednesday, September 9.
Police Chief Inspector Felix Akowuah told the court, presided over by Mr Samuel Ansah, that the victim, a pupil of New Oxford International School, had been sent by the mother to carry the bag and its contents valued at GH? 1,170 to her shop near the Kumasi Technical Institute.
Whilst on her way, the accused and his fugitive criminal colleague drew a knife and ordered that she surrender the handbag and its contents.
The prosecution said fearing for her life, she did as she was told.
The pair managed to escape with the stolen items and cash amid unsuccessful attempts by passersby to arrest them.
Police Chief Inspector Akowuah said the victim, who took good look at her attackers, identified Amoah to the police at Alabar on August 12.
He confessed to the crime in his caution statement and led the police to the hideout of “Sadi One” but before the officers got there, he had fled.
