Sunyani, Oct. 23, GNA - A Circuit Court at Fiapre near Sunyani in the Brong-Ahafo Region has remanded a 40-year-old taxi driver, Kwame Baffour, for threatening to kill Nana Saa Gyamfuah, Queen-mother of Ayima, near Kintampo.
His plea was not taken and was remanded to re-appear on October 26. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kingsley Baafi told the court that on September 24, 2010, the complainant Isaac Adjei, who is the queen mother's brother, hired a taxi to his destination at about 1500 hours and that during a conversation, the driver alleged that the youth in the town did not like the queen-mother and that he (accused) will use all means to kill her.
The prosecutor said Adjei reported the matter to her sister (Queen-mother) who in turn reported to the police. Chief Inspector Baafi said on October 14, the complainant with three witnesses again hired the same taxi and whilst in it the driver started the same discussion about the queen-mother. He said Adjei was having a recorder on him and recorded whatever the driver said and sent it to police station at Ayima. The police arrested Baffour and upon interrogation he said he was just joking and did not mean what he said.
