An Accra Circuit Court on Monday remanded Gideon Osei, a phone dealer and Isaac Agyeman, a businessman, in police custody for conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on October 13, 2014.
Police Inspector Adu-Acheampong, told the court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri that the complainant in the case is a driver and lives at Osu.
He said in the early hours of September 20, this year at about 0230 hours, the complainant was driving a taxi cab with registration number WR 2874 and during the course of his rounds the accused persons engaged his services.
He said on reaching a section of the road near Tesano club house, Gideon threatened the complainant with a knife to surrender his taxi cab.
The prosecution said when the complainant failed to comply with the instruction; the accused persons started assaulting him severely and pushed him out of the taxi.
He said, according to the complainant, he managed to hold Gideon and a struggle ensured between then, while Isaac fled.
"In the course of the struggle the complainant shouted for help which attracted witnesses, who came to assist him to arrest the accused person,” he said.
During interrogation, Gideon mentioned Isaac as the leader of the group, who sponsors the operation, adding that, on September 19, this year, Gideon gave Isaac GH?50.00 to embark on the robbery operation.
