Court restraints ICU and 17 workers of Golden Tulip

An Accra Fast Track High Court has restrained the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union of Ghana (ICU) and 17 workers of the Golden Tulip Hotel Accra from interfering in the management and operations of Golden Tulip.

This follows an ex-parte motion for an order of an interim Injunction filed by the Management of the Hotel against the defendants.

Management of the hotel had gone to court to seek an order of mandatory injunction directed against the 17 defendants compelling them to immediately vacate the premise of the hotel.

The plaintiff is also seeking an order directed at the defendants from entering the premises of the hotel unless they were authorised to do so by the management team of the hotel.

Plaintiffs are also asking the court to restrain the defendants from interfering in the management and operations of Golden Tulip.

They were further asking the court to halt the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union from holding meetings on the premises of the hotel with any of the defendants without the consent of the management.

The court presided over by Mr Justice Mustapha Habib Logoh granted the plaintiff’s prayer.

Some workers have been up arms against management of the hotel for some time now. The rumpus allegedly led by some of the defendants, compelled the General Manager and the Human Resource and Financial Controller to vacate the premises.
