Court rules on Sammy Crabbe’s suspension today

Barring any last minute changes, an Accra Human Rights Court will today give a final judgment in a case involving suspended Second National Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sammy Crabbe and the party.

Mr. Sammy Crabbe dragged the party to court challenging his indefinite suspension by its National Council following his refusal to honour an invitation by the Disciplinary Committee to answer various charges leveled against him.

He challenged the decision and said it was an act of lawlessness by “coup makers” who had thrown the party’s long-held credentials to the dogs and therefore proceeded to the Accra High Court months after his suspension to annul the decision.

Mr. Paul Awenami Afoko was also suspended as National Chairman but testified as a key witness for the plaintiff.

But even before the verdict is given, Mr. Crabbe has hinted of proceeding to the Supreme Court if the ruling does not go in his favour.
