The Jasikan Circuit Court has sentenced an employee, Wisdom Amewuame, to three years of hard labor for unlawful entry and stealing a Sanya-branded motorbike with registration number M-22-GR 5310.
The court sentenced Amewuame after he pleaded guilty and requested leniency.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Seth-Vincent Kpodo, the prosecutor, reminded the court—presided over by Lambert Keriga—of the convict's character, noting that Amewuame had just returned from prison for a similar offense. He pleaded with the court not to show leniency toward the convict.
The court also ordered that the stolen motorbike be returned to its rightful owner.
ASP Kpodo presented the facts of the case, explaining that the complainant was a farmer while the convict was unemployed and resided in different suburbs of Kwamekrom.
On December 31, 2024, at approximately 9:00 PM, the complainant parked his Sanya-branded motorbike with registration number M-22-GR 5310 on his corridor and went to bed. When the complainant woke up the next morning, January 1, 2025, at around 5:30 AM, he discovered that the motorbike had been stolen.
The complainant then reported the theft to the Kwamekrom police, and an investigation led to the arrest of the convict at his hideout in Bodada near Jasikan, where the motorbike was recovered.
During questioning, the convict admitted to the offense in his caution statement to the police.
