Create new Districts on Traditional lines - Omanhene

Gomoa Ajumako (CR), Sept 30, GNA - The Omanhene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Nana Nyanful Krampah X, has commended the government for accepting to create a new district out of the present Gomoa District.

He, however, appealed to the government to base the creation of the new district on Traditional Area lines instead of geographical, which had been suggested in some quarters.

The Omanhene made the appeal at the purification ceremony of his stool at Gomoa Ajumako near Apam Junction.

He explained that the Gomoa District was made up of two Traditional Areas, Gomoa Akyempim and Gomoa Ajumako and stated that if the new one, was created on the lines of East and West, it would favour the Akyempim Area because it would dominate both Districts. Nana Krampah explained that the Ajumako area, made up of 56 communities, was concentrated in the middle of the District mainly along the Winneba-Swedru road.

He pointed out that geographical consideration would make them subservient in both Districts.

The Omanhene who recently returned from the United States of America said he made a lot of contacts during his tour and the people could benefit only when they buried their differences and worked for the development of the area.
