Crime Check Foundation has donated GHC17,000 to Opanin Sarfo, a struggling 56-year-old cobbler.
The donation was made after the foundation visited Opanin Sarfo and his family in an uncompleted building where they live as caretakers.
Receiving the money on behalf of his family, the father of 5 said, “My wife and children have had the cause to be happy these days because of the food items I took home. They however did not believe me when I told them you gave me the money until I gave it to them to feel”.
Damning the dangers of contracting the deadly novel coronavirus in a city under lockdown, Opanin Sarfo said, “I cannot sit at home during this lockdown because I do not have any money which I can depend on to support the family. I have to come to work to see if I will get some money to feed the family.”
“Before the lockdown came into force, I sometimes earned GHC40 a day but during this period market has been very bad. I have been thinking of how we were going to eat today until you came to my rescue”.
The foundation also donated an amount of GHC21,000 and some food items to Angela,a widow.
Crime Check Foundation is a crime prevention and advocacy organisation.
