Thirteen males and two females have been arrested in a swoop by the Eastern Regional Police Command as part of efforts to rid the Koforidua Municipality of crime ahead of the Christmas festivities.
The suspects whose age range from 18 to 38 were arrested in the early hours of Thursday at Suhyen, Oyoko, Srodae, Koforidua Monrovia, Mambah Gas, Zongo, Agartha and Anlo Town.
Briefing the press, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Eastern Regional Police, said the police retrieved two slabs and one parcel of seeds, plants and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp at the crime scenes.
Others included five pairs of scissors, one dell laptop computer with a sharp knife in a laptop bag and an Opel Astra Taxi cab with the registration number GR 4093-S, which was abandoned by one of the drug pushers at Koforidua Monrovia.
ASP Nketia-Yeboah said the Regional Command would screen the suspects and those found culpable would be arraigned before the court to face the law and those who are innocent would be discharged.
He said the exercise would be carried out till the Municipality is rid off miscreants to ensure a peaceful Christmas festivities.
He appealed to the general public to assist the police arrest drug peddlers and all others associated with crime and urged the youth to be careful with the sought of friends they mingle with to avoid any troubles in this festive season.
