Criminals won't succeed in getting NPP evidence- Gloria Akuffo

Lead counsel for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) legal team who is expected to challenge the December 7 election results in court, Lawyer Gloria Akuffo, has stated that if the intention of the criminals who broke into her office was to retrieve the evidence, they will not succeed.

Some unknown persons broke into the lawyers’ office at Pyramid house and ransacked her office, making away with some vital documents including a laptop.

Madam Akuffo, in an interview with Citi Fm on Monday, stated that though the act could be politically motivated, the attempts by the burglars in getting the evidence failed.

“At this stage, you can’t rule out anything but I can’t be categorical and if anybody is looking for something on me because I am chairing the legal committee, they won’t find anything because I don’t have anything either here or at home. If that is what they were looking for, then they found nothing of that nature.” She observed.

Narrating the incident the lawyer indicated that, “We noticed that they came through one of the windows in the front office, stepped on the front office chair. They also stepped on another chair. We have a camera fixed in here so probably they were checking the camera.”

“But also we noticed that they had pulled drawers and pulled out papers and they took away a computer. So far, that is what we have noted. Obviously one of my junior colleagues' laptop has been taken away”.

She also added that, although the criminals have tampered with the internet server they did not succeed in getting the evidence they were looking for.
