Critics of Govt policies asked to suggest alternatives

Wa, May 22, GNA- Mr Lord Commey, National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on critics of the policies of Government to come out with alternative suggestions.

He said although some decisions taken by the Kufuor Administration, such as the 50 per cent hike in the price of petroleum products and the decongestion exercise in some regional capitals may be viewed by the public to be harsh, opponents of such political acts should define the best way forward.

Mr Commey made the call during a media interaction in Wa, after a day's review meeting with constituency executives of the party in the Upper West Region.

He said critics of the Government decision to opt for the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries initiative, later realised the enormous benefits to the country.

The national organiser said such tough political decisions should not be misconstrued as misrule or lack of imagination on the part of the Government.

Mr Commey said Government was focused and would therefore do everything possible to make life bearable for the citizenry.

Touching on the re-organisation of the ruling NPP, he said standing committees were being put in place to facilitate the process. He cautioned the media to exhibit a high level of professionalism in their reportage by remaining politically neutral.

Alhaji Abudulai Issahaque, Regional Chairman of the NPP expressed happiness about moves by the national hierarchy of the party to resolve the numerous differences among members.
