The third annual Crown Women Rising (CWR) Women Empowerment and Business-to-Business Conference is slated for Accra in May, the Country Director of CWR, Mrs. Nana Sekyere has announced.

Opening on May 8, 2019, the two-day summit is part of CWR’s iRise Africa Initiative and is designed as a platform to showcase Ghana’s women-owned businesses and connect them with investors and prospective marketing/distribution partners from across the African continent, the United States, Europe and the Diaspora.

The conference will be hosted by Crown Women Rising-Ghana, in partnership with Government of Ghana Ministries, Departments and Agencies, major donors, non-governmental organizations, local banks, Chambers of Commerce, and local women-focused non-profit institutions.

CWR-Ghana is a women-led affiliate of a United States-based non-profit organisation which focuses on women empowerment, business development and marketing, public-private partnerships and capacity building.

Ghana was upheld as the undisputed venue for the 2019 Regional Summit “Entrepreneurs Empowered for Africa’s Prosperity: Engage, Connect and Grow” because its capital, Accra, was recognized in November last year as West Africa’s meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) ‘City of the Year’.

The Ghana summit will focus on empowering women by providing its participants new opportunities to learn, share, care and be heard during facilitated sessions presented by subject matter experts and thought leaders, Mrs. Sekyere told reporters.

Conference partners and co-hosts will facilitate discussions on leadership, women in business, women in faith, women in technology and innovation, small manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, wealth generation and management, health and wellness, and business etiquette.

Mrs. Sekyere said the forum will also assign special attention to the issue of disenfranchised rural women who seldom have opportunities to be heard or to showcase and market their talents and interests publicly.

“At this summit, Crown Women Rising intends to recognise and honour those women who have excelled in their careers, network with other women who are making a difference in their communities and are impacting future generations; their efforts, no doubt, serve to boost our economic growth and strengthen our relationship with countries around the globe,” said the Country Director.

“Our colleagues at headquarters in the U.S. are working hard to ensure we have investors and buyers and participation from the U.S.” she said.

The summit proper will take place on May 8 and 9 at the Convention Centre of Accra’s Labadi Beach Hotel and shall be followed on May 10 by an Awards Gala Night and Fashion Show.
