Crucial NDC Meeting Today

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will convene a crucial meeting on Thursday to call certain party chieftains to order. With some few weeks to the National Congress of the party, many party chieftains are flouting the party?s constitution with impunity. The NDC?s new constitution is explicit on the issue of who is qualified to openly support candidates vying for the party?s presidential nomination.

But actions of some party chiefs, especially those in the National Executive Council are at variance with the constitution, hence the meeting. The meeting, which is scheduled for the party?s headquarters, will seriously consider the conduct of some party Executive members who are openly campaigning for Prof Mills in the December 21st primaries of the party.

The Mills campaign recently published some 29 names as members of the Mills campaign team. They include National Executive Member and Eastern Regional Chairman, Fred Ohene Kena. Other Regional Chairmen like Nana Alex Asamoah, Western Region; Joshua Alabi, Greater Accra and Dr Ato Quarshie, Central Region who by virtue of their position are automatic members of the NEC have openly declared their support for the former Vice President.

Another NEC Member, E.T. Mensah is at the forefront of the Mills campaign. The meeting will also consider what has now become hostile campaign amongst supporters of Prof Mills and Kwesi Botchwey. It will also consider smear campaign being waged against Party Chairman, Obed Asamoah.
