The seeming warm response and reception by supporters at the various rallies and tours, got a self-assured NDC confident of a comfortable lead prior to the December polls.

Leadership and patrons of the National Democratic Congress however received the shock of their lives when their opponent, the NPP, amassed a total of 5,716,026 votes against the party’s 4,713,277 to win the elections.

Speaking on Adom Tv’s morning show Badwam, 2016 campaign coordinator for the NDC, Kofi Adams indicated the party’s disappointment at the outcome of the just ended polls particularly after the assurance they received from some constituencies during their campaigning.

“the signals were clear that is why it came as a shock to many members…..the signals were quite clear especially in some constituencies which we knew were our strongholds, for some others we knew we’d lose because the NPP had strong standing in those places”, he stated.

He cited several instances where some party members have emerged with possible reasons for the defeat in an attempt to justify it adding that the actual cause for the fall will eventually unfold.

“People will always find thousand and one reasons to justify a loss or a victor, for me it’s good that a lot of people are speaking about the reasons for the loss…when all is said and done the actual reasons will be known”, he said.

Kofi Adams believes strongly that Ghanaians will come to an ultimate realization of the loss they’ve incurred by voting out a 'hardworking Mahama-led government'.

“It is quiet unfortunate Ghanaians didn’t realize the good work of President Mahama and the NDC administration in this country”.
