Accra, May 4, GNA - The Minister of the Interior, Mr Cletus Avoka, has on the advice of the Upper East and Northern Regional Security Councils, renewed the curfews imposed on the Bawku Municipality and Gushegu township and their immediate environs for another week with effect from May 4.
A statement in Accra signed by Mr Avoka said the curfew hours remained unchanged from 12.00 midnight to 4.00 am each day. The government appealed to all stakeholders, including chiefs, elders and opinion leaders to continue to impress on the people to ensure that, law and order are maintained in the communities at all times.
The government also appealed to all factions in the dispute to recognise the need to work towards peaceful coexistence while the people should eschew the mistrust and bitterness that have stalled the peace process.
Meanwhile, government is maintaining the ban on all persons in the Bawku Municipal area, Zabugu, Binduri, Pusiga, Zoasi and Gushegu townships and their environs from carrying arms, ammunitions or any offensive weapon. Any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted. 4
