Cutlass war at Oguaa

Cape Coast, May 7, GNA- Five male traders' sustained cutlass wounds on Tuesday evening, when some traders at the Kotokoraba Market in Cape Coast clashed following a misunderstanding.

Several other people near the scene of the clash were said to have sustained minor injuries when the clashing traders threw stones and sticks at each other, which also destroyed properties.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Cape Coast about the incident on Wednesday morning, Inspector Emmanuel Tey Okoso, regional police Public Relations Officer said at about 1730 hours, the police had a telephone call that a fight had broken out near the Kotokoraba Post Office. Inspector Okoso said he quickly dispatched some men to the scene, but when the got there the trader took to their heels, leaving their wares behind. He said the policemen conducted a swoop in the market and arrested 13 men, who were found smoking and peddling wee. Inspector Okoso said the injured traders have been sent to the Central regional hospital for treatment and that the police are investigating the cause of the clash.
