DCE appeals for splitting of Nkoranza District

Busunya (B/A), Sept 27, GNA - Mr James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah, the Nkoranza District Chief Executive, has appealed to the government to create two districts for Nkoranza to facilitate the fast development of the area.

He was addressing the chiefs and people of Busunya, Akrudwa Number One and Two, Akonkonti, Odumase and Timiabu at separate forums at the weekend during a tour of the communities. The DCE said the district was so large that it was difficult for any leader to reach out to all the communities and to initiate development projects for the people. Mr Appiah-Awuah commended the President and the government for creating two constituencies for Nkoranza to promote the development of the area.

He appealed to the unemployed youth to embark on projects such as grass cutter rearing, mushroom and snail farming and bee keeping. Mr Kwadwo Poku, the Assembly Member for Busunya New Town, said the community was building a police station estimated at 300 million cedis. The building is funded with contributions and levies by the people and the assembly member appealed to the district assembly to assist them with five bundles of roofing sheets and 100 bags of cement.

Mr Poku called on the assembly to build a hostel for the Community Day Secondary School in the area to increase enrolment. Nana Okofo Gyabaa Nyarko, Chief of Busunya called on non-resident citizens of the area to visit home regularly to assist in on-going development programmes.
