DCE appeals to chiefs to vote for NPP

Awutu Bereku, (C/R), Oct. 17, GNA - Mr Solomon Quarshie Abbam Qauye, District Chief Executive for Awutu-Senya, has called on the chiefs and people of the Awutu Bereku and Awutu Senya Traditional Areas to vote massively for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said a vote for the NPP on December 7, 2008 would bring rapid infrastructure development and economic progress. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday at Awutu Bereku, Mr Quaye gave the assurance that the NPP would win both the presidential and parliamentary elections with over 60 percent and said a vote for the NDC would be a waste.

He added that a vote for the NDC would retard the development and progress of the Awutu-Senya constituency. The DCE noted that the area lacked social amenities because no MP had been retained for two consecutive terms in the area. He noted that the NPP under the President John Agyekum Kufuor had laid solid economic foundation and Nana Akufo-Addo, the flagbearer was going to continue to improve roads, health, education, energy, job creation and poverty reduction. Mr Quaye noted that the oil find in the era of NPP was a blessing from God because during Dr Kwame Nkrumah's time, oil was found in a small quantity.

He urged the chiefs and the people in the Awutu-Senya District not to wary of politicians and their deceptions. The DCE said that the assembly would from next week whitewash the streets at Kasoa with its own internally generated resources. He said privatisation of the collection of the assembly's revenue was important noting that it would not only improve efficiency but also helped to attain revenue targets.
