DCE calls for harmony on district capital selection

Assin Foso (C/R), Dec 22, GNA - The Assin District Assembly has appointed a seven-member delegation to meet the chiefs and people of the area on the need to accept Assin Manso as the capital for the new district.

The delegation is made up of five members of the assembly and a representative each from Assin development associations at Cape Coast and Takoradi.

The appointment of the committee followed concern raised by Mr Kwabena Karikari Apau, District Chief Executive, over the tension emanating from the choice of Assin Manso as the capital for the new district.

Addressing the assembly last Friday, Mr Apau called on the Assembly Members and opinion leaders to convince traditional rulers and those allegedly fermenting trouble over the issue to desist as that "would not do any body any good".

He said if the assembly was unable to resolve the issue the people risked losing all the good things that would come their way following the creation of the new district.

Mr Anthony Arthur, Presiding Member of the assembly, also appealed to chiefs and citizens of Assin, especially those in the south, to consider how best the infant district could be nurtured when it was operational.
