DCE inaugurates Community Centre for Upper Bobikuma

Upper Bobikuma (C/R), Sept 26, GNA - A 120-million-cedi-Community-Centre constructed by the Chiefs and the people of Upper Bobikuma has been inaugurated by Mr Ben Mensah, Agona District Chief Executive.

Mr Mensah commended them for their self-help initiative and communal spirit that had enabled them to undertake many development projects in the town.

He also praised them for the Habitat project to provide accommodation for the people and government workers, adding that, Upper Bobikuma was the only town in the District to have initiated the housing project.

Mr Mensah praised the Assemblywoman, Mrs Elizabeth Bafoe- Bonney, for her hard work and dedication and urged the electorate to vote for someone who could work to ensure quality living standards for the people since the government placed more emphasis on the election of women to the District Assemblies.

The Takyi Family of Upper Bobikuma presented a 21-inch-colour Television Set and a remote antennal worth 2.5 million cedis to the Health Centre.

Nana Yaw Buabeng V, Chief of the town commended the Takyi Family of the Assemblywoman for fulfilling their promise made during the Akwambo festival in August this year.

The Chief urged citizens resident outside to learn from the example of the Assemblywoman's brothers to ensure the development of the area. He warned the people to desist from their lukewarm attitude and to attend such functions instead of the weekly funeral meetings. Nana Buabeng cautioned that if the people continued to stay away from such important functions, he would not hesitate to ban funeral meetings, which the people appreciated more.

Alhaji Aliu Mohammed, popularly known as Sankofa, a member of Bobikuma Akwambo Planning Committee asked the people to participate in activities to make the area a better place to leave.

He called on the people to vote wisely during Tuesday's District Level Elections for candidates who would promote peace and stability. In another development, Mr Mensah has inaugurated a Nurses' Quarters at Agona Otsenkorang constructed by the European Union (EU) and the Government of Ghana.

The DCE expressed the hope that nurses would now accept postings to the area to ensure quality health delivery.
