DFP congratulates Muslims

Accra, Sept. 29, GNA - Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Monday congratulated all Muslims for a successful Ramadan fast celebration. A release signed by the General Secretary, Bede A. Ziedeng said the religious rite of the Ramadan fast is an important pillar in Islam and the exercise is intended to achieve the spiritual upliftment of the individual.

It said it is a period when every Muslim is expected to be closer to Allah through constant prayers and the denial of oneself of the pleasures of life, including food and water as a way of achieving spiritual cleanliness, so as to be able to serve Allah. It said the attainment of this spiritual cleanliness is expected to impact positively, not only on one's life but the society as a whole. The release said as Muslims successfully carried out the exercise, it is expected that the benefits will not only remain with the individual Muslim, but whatever attributes that would have been acquired will be used to help build society better.

According to DFP, Muslims have helped in no small way to build the Ghanaian society over the years and "we can only expert more from them." The Party said being election year, the DFP entreats Muslims, and indeed all religious groups to pray fervently for peaceful and transparent elections.

It said; "Our religious faith should be brought to bear on all those who may be harbouring intentions of causing some disturbances to have a change of heart, and to bargain for peace," adding that, without peace human endeavour can not bring about the needed development that all societies aspire to achieve.
