DFP salutes Muslims on Eid-Ul-Fitr

Accra, Oct. 13, GNA - The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Saturday congratulated Muslims at the end of this year's Ramadan fast, saying the religious ritual of fasting is not just one of the fundamental pillars of Islam but also an important attribute in human society associated with deep thought.

In a statement issued in Accra, the DFP said it was also a period of self-cleansing, re-generation and the re-establishment of personal relationship with Allah. "It is a period of the self-denial of certain human pleasures in order to come closer to Allah. It is also a period of repentance and forgiveness."

The DFP said it believed that the period of the Ramadan fast, offered Muslims the opportunity to reflect soberly and take stock of their lives over a one year period, which then enabled them prepare adequately for the future in the succeeding years. "It is the hope and belief of the DFP that whatever blessings that are bestowed on Muslims by Allah for this exercise, would be used by all

Muslims to influence the direction of the larger Ghanaian society in a positive manner, so that ultimately all Ghanaians would become the net beneficiaries of this important religious exercise."
