The Driver and Vehicles Licensing Authority has introduced new license plate prefixes in some regions across the country.
The prefixes are AK, for Bekwai-Ashanti, AP, for Mampong β Ashanti, AC, for Obuasi, and BT, for Techiman. The rest are BW, for Wenchi, EN, for Nkawkaw, ES, for Somanya, VD, for Denu, and WT, for Tarkwa.
In a statement released by the authority and signed by the Manager of Public Relations, Francis Tuffour, it stated that βthe introduction of the addition prefixes is part and parcel of the measures that have been put in place to better facilitate the registration of vehicles and ease congestions at stations.β
They urged registrants to visit the stations in close proximities to them for the preferred prefixes.
Additionally, DVLA noted that investigations are underway to address the issue of different vehicles with same registration numbers.
