A 24-year-old lady has collapsed while trying to board a taxi to the Thanksgiving Service of her father, who was buried on Saturday, July 3, 2016.
She was rushed to the Essikado Government Hospital by the mother in the same taxi but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The deceased, Selina Mensah, a.k.a. Maame Ekua Akraba, had stopped a taxi together with her mum, Josephine Amoah, also known as Maame Esi Number 4, at Mempeasem, a suburb of Sekondi in the Western Region.

They were on their way to St. Mark’s Anglican Church at Essikado, where a Thanksgiving Service for her late father, Robert Mensah, 57, was being held on Sunday, July 3, 2016, when the sad event occurred.

Recounting the tragedy, the sorrowful-looking mother said what even surprised her was that, her daughter was in a normal mood and did not show any sign of sickness.

According to the mother, she was in the house with the daughter getting ready to attend the Thanksgiving Service when the daughter had a call around 11am from some friends who had arrived at the church grounds to sympathise with her.

They had dressed up and were heading towards the church premises when the unfortunate happened.

The rest of the funeral rites for the late husband and father on Sunday continued. However, the widow and her immediate family were not present.
The deceased will be buried this weekend in Sekondi.
