Dawhenya gets Police Station

The Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NIPDA) has built and furnished a GH¢103,226.00 police station at Dawhenya.

The station, located at Dahwenya Power City, has a charge office, male and female cells, operations and investigation rooms as well as Criminal Investigation Department and station offices.

Alhaji Sa Rhack Nartey, Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive, said the Ningo-Prampram District was one of the fastest developing districts in the Greater Accra Region and was attracting all manner of characters with its attendant criminal activities and security implications.

He appealed to the Inspector General of Police to provide the district with additional personnel and a strong vehicle for patrols.

The DCE saiddue to the nature of the district, it was difficult for the few police personnel currently at post to extensively and effectively patrol all the communities.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Paul Bampo, Prampram District Police Commander, said policing Dawhenya had been challenging due to the fast development rate of the town.

DSP Bampo said policing the town from Prampram was very difficult and therefore there was the need to bring policing closer to the people.

He thanked the Assembly, the traditional leaders for the land and the residents associations for providing support towards the completion of the station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Beatrice Zakpaa Vib-Sanziri, the Tema Police Regional Commander, appealed to land owners and estate developers to factor in police stations in their planning.

DCOP Vib-Sanziri appealed to other district assemblies, corporate bodies and individuals to emulate the example of NIPDA by assisting the police since security was a shared responsibility.

She commended the Prampram District Commander for his tireless efforts to improve security in the area and also for building a good working relationship and partnership with the assembly and the residents associations.

Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, presented one computer to the new police station to enhance their work.

Mr Mensah said Ghanaians must stop confusing indiscipline with human rights and allow the police to bring down indiscipline in the country.

The new Dawhenya Developers Association has handed over a four-bedroom self contained house worth GH¢300,000.00 to the police.

The building is to serve as residential apartment for police officers who would be posted to the area.
