National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party has clarified that the designation of the Osu Castle as Presidency Annex is erroneous, revealing that the former seat of government is now under Museums and Monuments Board.

This is after former President John Mahama said Osu Castle is a Presidency Annex and for it to be used for Militia trainin is “harrowing” and goes to show President Akufo-Addo is painting Ghana black.

Mr Mahama expressed shock about why the Osu castle which until 2013 was the seat of government could be used for training of militias.

Mr Mahama posted on twitter:

“Watched a harrowing expose of how the Osu Castle, until 2013 the office ofthe President, now used as an Annex, has become the HQ & training camp of a private militia wing of the NPP & @NAkufoAddo. Clearly, this admin has produced enough paint to paint the whole nation black.”

While Sammi Awuku said he is yet to watch the video, he disclosed that what little he has seen of the video doesn’t show they are vigilantes or threaten national Security. He nevertheless congratulated Manasseh for the effort, promising to pick some useful lessons from it.

“I am in Tamale, and I must admit I have not seen it. But what I have seen of women in suits and unarmed people doesn’t seem to show they are what is being claimed. I don’t know. But we can’t take anything away from Manasseh. He is a respected investigative journalist and we will look at it and pick some lessons.” he said.

Mr Awuku used a Tamale proverb that even if a penis is useless at all, it can pass urine, “so we will take the video seriously”.

In a related development, Secretary of the De Eye Group Tracey Asamoah, in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com said the group is grateful to Manasseh Azuri Awuni for the “hype” and “free publicity”, revealing that it will help them get more market for their services.

“This is too cheap for an undercover job. The Manasseh I knew from Krachi Secondary school, this is so cheap.” she said.

Ms Tracey Asamoah said they are an employment agency that facilitates the recruitment of their members into openings in government through lobbying.

According to her, but for the name of “their father” President Nana Addo in the documentary, they love the hype they have gotten. She claimed that President Akufo-Addo knows nothing about their activities even though their boss is a former bodyguard to then candidate Akufo-Addo.

“we thank Manasseh very well for the hype. This is free publicity. He has helped us to hype ourselves. Our market will go high.”

She said they are not a secret group, neither are they hiding from anyone as they jog in Osu and around the beach in their numbers.

The pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) militia group De Eye Group is led by one Nana Wireko Addo, popularly known as ‘Choman’.

The group is alleged to receive considerable state support, training in the Presidency Annex since the party won power in 2017.

Choman, the leader of the group has his office inside the Presidency Annex. The Presidency Annex is located at the Christiansborg Castle, Osu in Accra.
