Six people have reportedly lost their lives in a ghastly accident following a head-on collision between a Sprinter bus and a VIP bus at Atwedie in the Asante Akim South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The incident, which occurred a few hours ago has left many in shock, with authorities working swiftly to manage the aftermath.

The devastating crash, shared by blogger Edhub on social media platform X, reported that the accident happened on the spot, claiming six lives instantly.

The collision between the Sprinter bus, typically used for shorter commutes, and the larger VIP bus, known for long-distance travel, has drawn attention to the risks often associated with intercity travel on this major highway.

Emergency services rushed to the scene to offer assistance, with rescue operations and investigations ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.

Accidents on the Accra-Kumasi road are frequent as it is one of the busiest and most critical highways in Ghana.

The road connects two of the country’s largest cities, making it heavily trafficked by both private and commercial vehicles.
