The ruling government seems to be having a hard time justifying the high number of staff at the presidency.

It would be recalled that the New Patriotic Party, then in oppsition, raised hell over the Mahama administration's presentation of a list of 678 staff to Parliament in 2013.

They described it as 'wasteful' and 'unnecessary'.

In a surprising turn of events, the ruling Akufo-Addo government on Friday, 20th April, 2018, submitted a total number of 998 workers to Parliament.

There are 706 Employees of Public Sector Organisations, 27 Presidential Staffers, 256 Junior Appointees and 9 Ministers of State.

This figure has been strongly condemned based on history and the fact that the ruling government has already appointed 110 ministers.

Speaking to this issue, Kweku Baako, the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper feels the debate is needless.

According to him, even though the number is record high, the brouhaha is not important.

“Numerically, Nana Akufo-Addo 998 is the highest…but the debate is needless” he said on Joy FM's Newsfile, Saturday, re-echoing similar comments he (Baako) passed when the NDC was in power and the opposition NPP took them on for having over 600 staff at the Presidency.
