Dedicated Bus Lanes To Be Constructed In Accra

The Ministry of Roads and Transport would soon begin the construction of bus lanes in Accra to ease traffic congestion and facilitate the movement of buses in the metropolis.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, the sector Minister, Dr Richard Anane said the construction of the lanes, to be called "dedicated bus lanes" is to create room for more buses expected in the country under President J.A. Kufuor's mass transportation system. He said parts of the existing roads are being marked for the "dedicated buses lanes," and added that the lanes, when completed would remove the problem of huge vehicular traffic jams during rush hours.

Dr. Anane said the easy movement of the buses would bring reliability and ensure that buses arrive at exact times at bus stops. He said this would prevent the problem of passengers, especially workers, getting and returning from work late and tired, to ensure improved productivity.
