The Brong-Ahafo Regional Secretariat of Deeper Life Bible Church on Friday presented 50 bags of cement worth GH?1,100 to the Ayakomaso Community Primary School.
Pastor Patrick Amankona, Regional Administrator and Pastor Kwasi Antoh, Nsoatre District Pastor, made the presentation on behalf of the church at a short ceremony at Ayakomaso, near Nsoatre in the Sunyani West District.
Pastor Amankona explained that the donation formed part of the church’s social responsibility in ensuring that school children studied under sound and conducive environment.
He said in 1998, the leadership of the church approached Nana Adu Yaw Sompremo I, Chief of Ayakomaso, for land to enable them to establish the regional retreat grounds of the church at Ayakomaso, adding the chief responded by giving out 10 acres of land for that purpose.
Pastor Amankona pointed out that the community also made an appeal to the church somewhere last year for some support towards the construction of a new school block for the local primary school.
He said since the church regarded quality education as the pre-requisite tool to growth and development, the church was very happy when the community requested for its support.
Pastor Amankona gave the assurance that the church would continue to contribute its quota and support in any project that would promote the education of the community.
Assemblyman for Ayakomaso-Mantukwa Electoral Area, Mr. Patrick Adu Boahen, said the school was in dire need of desks for both the pupils and teachers and appealed to other religious and Non-Governmental Organisations to lend their support.
He said the community had made persistent appeals to the District Assembly for support but to no avail and thanked the church for the gesture.**
