Government has since August 26,2019 ordered for the transfer of an amount of GHs 61,669,394,00 to public Senior High Schools(SHS) for the implementation of Free SHS programme.

This was contained in a letter by the Ministry of Education, sighted by Kasapafmonline.com and addressed to the Manager, Banking Hall, at the Bank of Ghana(BoG).

The stated transaction is expected to cover the 1st semester of the 2019/2020 academic year.

This comes on the back of agitations among Heads of Senior High Schools in the country who are pushing for the postponement of the reopening date for the 2019/2020 academic year due to delay in disbursement of funds to the Schools.

Management of Ghana Education Service has fixed September 6, 2019 for the beginning of the 2019/2020 Academic year through Form 3 students on August 26 reported in their various schools.

However, Kasapa News has gathered that there is widespread anxiety among Heads of Senior High Schools over lack of Funds and food to feed the students.

According to Kasapa News Sources, the Conference of Heads of Government Assisted Secondary Schools has, as a result, suggested on two occasions to Management of the Ghana Education Service to reschedule the reopening date for the academic year but have not been agreed to.

According to the Headmasters, they will be forced to send the students back home if they do not receive their allocations, food supplies and logistics to take care of the students.
