John Hayward, a representative of the Conservative Party has questioned the rationale behind the flamboyant organization of the New Patriotic Party’s National Delegates Conference.

Hayward, delivering his solidarity message at the conference in Koforidua, expressed shock over the many posters he has seen as well as other means of campaigns. He questioned whether that is a prudent use of resources, emphasizing that per his experience, voters prefer political parties which focus on the needs of the people.

"I came through the streets today and I saw so many posters of the wonderful candidates here. But I had to reflect. I think I saw more posters than the delegates at this conference and I wondered, ‘is this really the best use of our resources?’" said the politician.

He suggested that the NPP is trending on slippery grounds with respect to the use of resources and advised that it rather invests in the lives of the citizenry.

"Voters are less keen on parties but focus more on the internal issues on the parties. We hope that the NPP can reach out more on the people," Hayward noted.

About 6,000 members of the governing New Patriotic Party have converged on the campus of the Koforidua Technical University in the Eastern Region to elect their national executives as the party hosts its National Delegates Conference.

Over 40 members of the party are seeking to occupy various executive positions in the party to lead the party for the next four years.

Positions to be contested are National Chairperson – First, Second and Third; General Secretary, National Treasurer and National Organiser.

The rest are National Women Organiser, National Youth Organiser and National Nasara Coordinator.
