Deputy Minister Commends Artillery Regiment

Ho, Jan. 2, GNA - Mr Joseph Kwaku Nayan, Deputy Volta Regional Minister, last Friday commended the 66th Artillery Regiment in Ho for its contribution in maintaining law and order in the Volta Region. Speaking at a Dinner Dance at the Officers Mess, he commended level of cooperation between the Command of the Regiment and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC).

Heads of departments and other civilians attended the Dinner Dance to strengthen the esprit the corps and to promote military-civilian relations.

Mr Nayan pointed out that good military-civilian relations was crucial in ensuring national cohesion and noted that the Regiment sent soldiers to quell inter-tribal disturbances in Kete-Krachi area in collaboration with the Police last year.

Soldiers from the Regiment had been sent to maintain law and order in some old trouble spots and had helped to counteract the increased incidents of robbery in the Ketu District.

Lieutenant-Colonel Emmanuel Kotia, Commanding Officer, moved from table to table to interact with the civilians stressing the need for sustained military-civilian ties.
