Deputy Minister appeal to EC polling bothe

Prekumase (E/R), May 7, GNA- The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Gustav Narh Dometey has appealed to the Electoral Commission to provide the people of Prekumase , near Sekesua in the Upper Manya area with a polling station since they had to walk a long distance to another community before they could cast their vote.

He said most of the people in the area were old and could not walk that distance thereby preventing them from registering and voting as required by all citizens.

Mr Dormetey made the appeal at the inauguration of Prekumase zone of Agricultural Producers Council (APC) on Friday at Prekumasi . Mr Dormetey observed that, all the developmental projects that government is providing would be meaningless if parents neglect the education of their wards.

He said the government was constructing roads, connecting electricity to communities and putting up new school blocks in a bid to improve upon the standard of education and make education more accessible to all.

He urged the people to vote for the New Patriotic Party( NPP) in the forth-coming elections for more projects to improve their economic well-being and outlined numerous projects that the NPP had undertaken in the area within it's short stay in office. The Deputy Minister, who is the Parliamentary candidate of the NPP for the Upper Manya Constituency asked the people not to allow anyone to influence their choice of candidate for the constituency and asked them to rally behind him to give the area a facelift to improve their living standards.

According to the district coordinator of the APC, Mr Ebenezer Tettey, the organisation was an initiative by the Ministry of Women and Children's affairs to assist in the marketing and effective distribution of agricultural products mostly locked up in the villages due to transportation problem.

He said it was also to liaise with financial institutions in soliciting financial assistance to members to improve their agricultural productions.
