Deputy Minister ‘lied’, no logistics received from government yet – Ashanti Region NCCE

Deputy Information Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide Deputy Information Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Ashanti Region has debunked assertions by the Deputy Minister for Information Minister Mr. Pius Enam Hadzide that government has made available logistics for them to embark on a campaign against the novel coronavirus.

“We have not received any logistics from the government”. I am making it clear today that, there is no iota of truth in what the minister said”. Dean of Information Service Ashanti Region Mr. Kusi Obuodum Rubben told the media in the region’s capital.

The Deputy Minister for Information, Mr. Pius Enam Hadzide during a recent press briefing on COVID-19 stated that government has made available logistics to the NCCE to embark on a nationwide education.

This comes after the public accused the NCCE of doing nothing in terms of the public campaign on the deadly virus.

However, Kusi Obuodum Rubben in his address to the media in Kumasi made it clear that the region is yet to receive the supposed logistics claimed by the Deputy Minister and that they have nothing to be working with.

According to him, the Information Service in the Ashanti Region comprising of 43 districts has only 6 roadworthy vehicles to work with adding that, in areas where there is one, there is no money to fuel them.

“On TV you hear our deputy minister say they have deployed logistics for us to work with. I am making it clear today that, there is no iota of truth in what the minister said”, Mr. Kusi Obuodum stressed.

“This morning for instance we came all from far places to get our logistics, just for us to be told there is nothing, not even transportation to take us back” he complained bitterly.

According to the NCCE, people in the rural communities who have seen the minister speak on the logistics have been demanding hand sanitizers from them since the commission is believed to have them in stock.
