Political activists supported the Volta Regional Deputy Minister, Maxwell Blagodzi, to lay to rest his father, Samuel Blagodzi in Nkwanta in the Volta Region over the weekend.

The burial ceremony attracted hundreds of sympathisers who gathered at the Nkwanta Junior High School ‘A’ park, to pay their last respect to the deceased who served as Chief Executive for the then Nkwanta District under the Kuffuor administration.

The late Blagodzi’s two year tenure as DCE saw the provision of potable water to the district between 2001-2003.

The retired educationist who was described as an “unshakable pillar” and “principled patriot” of the New Patriotic Party, was among few individuals who saw the nurturing of the Danquah-Busia tradition in northern Volta.

He served as the first Nkwanta Constituency NPP Chairman and Volta Regional NPP Treasure. The late Blagodzi was instrumental in campaign activities which lead to the victory of the NPP in the 2000 elections.

He was a member of the party’s Council of Elders until his death.

The late Samuel Blagodzi left behind a widow, Elizabeth Blagodzi and 8 children including the Deputy Volta Regional Minsiter, Maxwell Blagodzi, Chief Supt Kofi Blagodzi and Dr Ruben Blagodzi of the 37 Military Hospital.
