Deputy minority leader of parliament, Hon. Avedzi joins fight against Coronavirus

The Member of Parliament for Ketu North Municipal Assembly and Deputy minority leader of parliament, Hon. Dr James Klutse Avedzi, yesterday, March 27, presented some items, consisting of Veronica buckets, gallons of liquid soap, gallons of alcohol-based sanitizers, boxes of surgical hand gloves, mini-sized dispensing bottles and infrared thermometers to the Municipal Health Directorate to support them in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the municipality.

The MP who is also the chairman of the Public Account Committee (PAC) made the presentation at the forecourt of the Municipal Assembly in the presence of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anthony Avorgbedor, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr Jasper Adenyo, former District Chief Executive under the erstwhile Mahama administration, Hon. Kofi Lawson, to the Municipal Health Director, Madam Eva Irene Passah, for distribution to the 21 health centers, 2 hospitals and 1 clinic in the Municipality.

In his speech before handing over the items, he reiterated that the coronavirus knows no party colours and therefore the fight to prevent the outbreak of the virus was a fight which everyone has to join by following the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the Ghana Health Service. Thus, he as the representative of the people in the constituency, he is presenting the items to support what the Municipal Assembly will provide.

Hon. Avedzi again remarked that the issue of lockdown has been on the airwaves and advised that though a lock-down would enable authorities in identifying and isolating infected persons or groups of persons whiles preventing the spread of infections, the final decision rests on the President of the republic to make.

Apart from the items presented to the Health Directorate for the Health Centers, Hospitals and Clinic, Hon. Dr. James Klutse Avedzi toured the constituency to distribute similar items to markets centers, driver unions, radio stations, motor-riders stations, prayer camps, and police stations and police checkpoints in the Municipality. In addition, the distribution was also

extended to the Customs and Immigration Border Post at Akanu, fire stations, the Magistrate Court and the NDC Constituency Office.
