Details: Akufo-Addo’s first ministerial reshuffle

President Akufo-Addo will reportedly reshuffle to cut down the number of Ministers from 110 President Akufo-Addo will reportedly reshuffle to cut down the number of Ministers from 110

There is uneasy calm at the ministries and in the corridors of power, as a massive ministerial reshuffle drops soon, MyNewsGH.com’s source at the Presidency has said.

This high level ministerial and deputy ministerial reshuffle is expected to cut down the number of Ministers from 110 to about 87, our very highly placed source said.

This reshuffle follows after President Akufo-Addo sacked the bosses of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Paul Ansah, KorleBu CEO Dr Felix Anyah, Alfred Obeng of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company BOST and Gifty Klenam of the Ghana Export Promotion Council have all been given the boot with SSNIT and others yet to follow.

The President is scouting for replacement of some of the State Companies before announcing their sack.

Sources have said Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) Chief Executive Officer was saved only because he hails from the Ashanti Region and a key constituency. It is not conclusive if the President will change his mind or not.

Mr Isaac Osei and his boss, Minister of Energy have been in the news over a public disagreement about the conversion of TOR into a Tank Farm.

For the Energy Minister, he is likely to be reassigned, our source suggested.

The List of 110 Ministers

President Akufo-Addo was widely criticized, both in Ghana and abroad, for appointing 110 Ministers, the largest in the history of Ghana. But MyNewsGH.com has learnt that the President as is characteristic of his ‘listening President’ tag, is willing to eat a humble pie and cut the number to 87, maximum 90.

Some of the ministries are expected to be merged while some deputies ministerial slots at the ministries will be scrapped entirely.

While we have names at stake, we are unable to put them out at the moment.

Ashanti Region is also expected to get more substantive representatives in Cabinet, but some current ministers in Ashanti Region will be given the boot for redundancy and incompetence.

MyNewsGH.com is reliably informed that aside the merging of ministries and sacking of ministers who have been embroiled in controversy in one way or other, Regional Ministers and their deputies as well as Ministers of State at the Presidency are going to he heavily affected.

MyNewsGH.com will be exclusively releasing the new list ahead of time when it is due.

Many of the ministers are currently lobbying to be retained while the President is balancing interests in the new list to be released SOON.
