Digital platforms can help the print media expand their clientele - George Andah

Deputy Communications Minister, George Andah says the print media can expand their client base and position if they make use of the digital platform to reach the entire nation and even outside Ghana.

The deputy minister who was speaking at Today Newspaper’s 4th Annual Lecture on the theme ‘Using Digital Technology to Accelerate Business Growth’ stated that due to the enabling environment provided by the government for the private sector growth, internet broadband is affordable now and the print media need to take advantage of it.

He said, “the phenomenon has generated enough interest and we can talk of mobile data growth of 19 million subscribers as of February 2017 representing a penetration rate of almost 70%” adding that “these are exciting times and we must leverage on the global technological advancement to make the print media flourish”.

Mr Andah urged all to take advantage of the digital technologies being enjoyed now to build a better future for the next generation of businesses.

He said “digital technology is the currency of the future development of a nation and transforming it into a smart economy. A country’s status of development is now being measured in terms of its technological capacity”.

He commended Today Newspaper for organising the lecture and encouraged the outfit to continue using digital platforms to “drive their leadership and broaden their coverage in terms of dissemination of relevant information”.
