Over Forty-two (42) people including old women have been arrested and detained in Bibiani following a planned demonstration by kinsmen of dismissed Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company (BOST), Alfred Obeng Boateng on Friday.
Residents of the area had organized themselves to show their discontentment with the dismissal of Mr Obeng Boateng who they say has been very helpful to their course.
Though there had been a change of venue for the scheduled event from Subin Nkwanta to Chirano as part of his Western Regional tour, the angry kinsmen conveyed themselves to the place to still express their dissatisfaction to President Akufo-Addo.
Leader of the over 200 demonstrators, Solomon Kwame Boamah who spoke to Abusuafmonline.com said that the demonstrators arrived at the venue, clad in red, held placards to convey their message to the President.
However, security officials who were with the president arrested them and subsequently placing them in detention.
He says ”We agreed with them and promised not to do anything bad but to our shock when we got to the place, the security personnel ordered us to put all our placards down and then started arresting us and detained us until the program was over”.
He further stated that the 42 people who were arrested and sent to the police cell were asked to write their respective statements.
