Dissidents Disrupting The Running Of NDC Canada Chapter

NDC Canada Chapter under the leadership of Mr. Kofi Sordzi wishes to inform all party members and sympathizers in Canada and abroad that the first biennial congress scheduled to take place in Montreal, Canada on Saturday, August 22, 2009 is declared illegal, null and void.

Accordingly, by virtue of the powers conferred on the Chairman and the entire executives of the Chapter by the Party Executives in Ghana, we wish to reiterate that the Gilbert Adjei/Charles Nkansah group and Jacob Mamon/Charles Nkansah group are dissidents who claimed that they took over the leadership of NDC Canada in September 2008.They replaced the legitimate Chairman Mr. Kofi Sordzi by Jacob Mamon and the legitimate Secretary, Mr. Fred Tay by Mr. Charles Nkansah. They were able to manipulate and get the support of a limited number of NDC members with whom they plan to hold this biennial congress. Their organization excludes a very large segment of NDC branches and its members. We believe that the biennial congress has to be inclusive and that its organization, planning etc, are the responsibilities of the legitimate Chairman of NDC Canada and his executives. We are therefore advising Mr. Jacob Mamon and his cohorts to stop this illegal activity immediately. These dissidents can not plan the biennial congress and invite the legitimate Chairman and his legitimate Secretary to attend.

Meanwhile, the leadership of NDC Canada Chapter will at the appropriate time after the ongoing consultation with Accra and with all the recognized branches choose a convenient date and place for a national conference in Canada.

It would be recalled that during the NDC Victory celebrations in Toronto and Montreal, (REFER TO GHANAWEB, GHANAIANS ABROAD PUBLICATIONS ON FEBRUARY, 17 & MARCH 26, 2009) the Chairman, Mr. Kofi Sordzi, reiterated his commitment to organizing a delegate’s conference to elect new executives for the Chapter by the end of the year. He advised members to form branches in all parts of Canada. He also informed members that as mandated by the NDC constitution whenever a new branch is formed, he is obligated to launch it and inform the party headquarters accordingly.

Finally, by virtue of the responsibility placed on the Chairman and the executives of NDC Canada Chapter, we again reiterate that the biennial congress slated for Saturday, August 22, 2009 in Montreal, Canada is illegally constituted therefore any decision arrived at that meeting will also be considered illegal. Thus, all those who are planning to attend this conference will be contributing to illegality.

We cease this opportunity to appeal to all peace-loving and progressive members and sympathizers of the party in Canada who plan to attend this illegal congress to think very carefully of the future of the party. Long Live Ghana! Long Live NDC!
