District Assemblies to support skilled persons

Mr Richard Mongson, Birim Central Municipal Head of the Business Advisory Centre, has appealed to district assemblies to support artisans to gain knowledge in information and communication technology.

He said it was imperative to help update skilled persons such as technicians to be abreast of the high technology of servicing LCD/LED televisions which currently are in production.

Mr Mongson made the appeal during a training workshop for 21 members of the Ghana Electricians Servicing Technicians Association of the Birim Central Municipality at Akim Oda.

The training was on; “Production Efficiency and Technology Enhancement in LCD/LED Television” organised by the National Board for Small-Scale Industries, and the Business Advisory Centre (BAC).

It was funded by the Government of Ghana, the International Fund for Agriculture Development and the African Development Bank.

Mr Mongson assured the participants that the BAC, being the apex government organisation, was mandated to promote the development of micro-scale enterprises and regularly train artisans.

Mr Ralph Ocloo, a resource person, took participants through electrical components like power supply unit, time controlling board, mother board unit, inventor board unit, screen, backlight and fault findings.

He asked them to regularly renew their technological skills so that their jobs would not be affected.
