District Assembly blames poor performance of revenue officers

Agona Swedru (C/R), Aug. 30, GNA- The Agona District Assembly is to institute measures against revenue officers whose performance fall below standard.

Mr. John Kwesi Agyabeng, District Chief Executive announced this at the ordinary session of the Assembly at Agona Swedru on Friday. He announced that a review of revenue performance as at June, 2003 shows that the assembly collected 513,70 million out of the 1.114 billion budgeted for this year.

Mr. Agyabeng said that since 2001, the assembly has completed 79 projects in areas of health, education and sanitation to improve the living conditions of the people.

He said the President's Special Initiative (PSI) on cassava has registered over 2,500 farmers, and appealed to farmers in the area to increase production of cassava to feed the starch factory.

He said the assembly's share of district assembly common fund for this year went up from two billion to 4.835 billion cedis adding that first quarter allocation of 800 million has been received and used so pay off contractors. 30 Aug. 03
