District Assembly competes major projects with HIPC Fund

Kwame Danso (B/A), October 9, GNA- The Sene District Assembly in Brong-Ahafo has completed five major development projects in selected communities in the district under the one billion cedis HIPC Fund to the Assembly.

The projects are in the areas of education, health and sanitary. Mr. Isaac Sunkwa-Hyiaman, the District Chief Executive (DCE) told the Ghana News Agency at Kwame Danso on Thursday that the projects included construction of three classroom-block each for Akyeremade Local Authority primary, Kwame Danso Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Junior Secondary School (JSS) and Premuase L.A. primary schools.

A 10-seater KVIP place of convenience has also been constructed for the people of Lemu while Lassi community has been provided with a community clinic, Mr. Sunkwa-Hyiaman said.

He described the HIPC fund as a great relief package as it has enabled the assembly to initiate development programmes to improve upon the living standards of the people.

Mr. Sunkwa-Hyiaman further announced that the Assembly has also received 400 million cedis from the GETFUND to carry out development projects in the area.

Mr. Jones Adu Koranteng, the District Deputy Coordinating Director said the district assembly was offering financial support towards health educational campaign programmes in the district.

A District Committee on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has been put in place and the members would visit the communities in the area to sensitise the people on the importance of the scheme, Mr. Koranteng said.
