District Chief Executive Urges Ministry To Review Stand On Grants

Oguaa-Seniagya (Ashanti Region), 12 Nov.,

The District Chief Executive for Sekyere East, Mr. Kwame De-Graft Agyei, has urged the Ministry of Education to review its stand on the payment of grants for feeding boarding students. He made the call during a familiarisation tour of the district to acquaint himself with the community's own initiatives, their problems and how the assembly can assist them. He argued that if the Ministry subsidizes the feeding cost for boarding students, then the same grants should be extended to day students as well. This, he said, will encourage parents to patronise fully the day system initiated by the Ministry and make tertiary education affordable to every Ghanaian. Mr. Agyei announced that the rehabilitation work on the Asokore- Anunuso road through Oguaa has been given on contract and that work on the bailey bridge over the Anunu river will soon start to link Sekyere East with Asante Akim North. The district secretary also visited Anunuso, Akuakrom, Odurokrom and Wonoo.
